Statement:The Groove was my brainchild, that i carefully crafted into a prize winning project. If it wasn’t for Julie Kim, the Dean, cancelling my independent study the following spring, i would have built a pilot and canvassed it across to city officials. Alas, it is all but a dream now. The project, titled "The Groove," proposed a transformative solution to the city’s traffic congestion, social fragmentation, and urban sprawl by introducing a partial capping system over the highway. This innovative design would create new, intelligently zoned mixed-use spaces, integrating housing, parks, and transit options to revitalize the city core. Although the project placed second in the competition, it was recognized for its visionary approach to urban design and its potential to dramatically improve the quality of life for Atlanta’s residents.
