Founder Bio

samuel thurman (1998)

I’m an industrial and architectural designer, artist, and founder of Maygra Studios. My work is rooted in a deep exploration of the intersections between art, technology, and spirituality. With a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Cincinnati and a Master of Architecture from Georgia Institute of Technology, I’ve spent years cultivating a unique approach to design that pushes the boundaries of creativity while embracing ethics and sustainability. I’m currently pursuing a Master of Science in Urban Design, further expanding my understanding of how the built environment can inspire and transform.

At Maygra Studios, I lead a research-driven practice dedicated to solving global challenges through intelligent and ethical design solutions. My work draws from sacred geometry, generative design, and material innovation, combining traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technologies like AI and 3D printing. I’ve launched two key initiatives: Creatio Ex Nihilo, a sculptural series exploring metaphysical concepts through 3D printing, and Maygra Furnishings, a project that blends AI-generated designs with handcraftsmanship to create one-of-a-kind, ethical furniture. These projects reflect my commitment to preserving cultural heritage, empowering artisan communities, and reimagining the role of technology in art and design.

For me, design is more than creating objects; it’s about crafting systems, spaces, and narratives that inspire a deeper connection to our world and each other. I see my work as a bridge between the material and the metaphysical, a way to explore how we can live harmoniously with the rapid advancements of technology while staying grounded in the values of craftsmanship and human connection.

When I’m not designing, I’m researching, meditating, or teaching, constantly looking for new ways to align purpose with practice. If my work resonates with you, I invite you to explore the projects I’ve poured my heart into and join me in this journey to create a more meaningful, sustainable future.
